In retrospect, it’s nearly impossible to explain how epic Pitchfork weekend was for us at Beauty Bar Chicago. Kicking it off we introduced our Turntable.IRL party, a party where industry folks take a stab at djing (or at least try) which turned out to be a huge success clashed with drunken debauchery. Saturday’s DJ sets from Deerhunter, Twin Shadow, Ariel Pink and Pitchfork founder Ryan Schreiber clearly gave Pitchfork-goers a chance to keep the party going while select members of each band threw down their favorite dance cuts. And to cap it off, Syd tha kid of Odd Future’s DJ set (following the Odd Future set at pitchfork) on Sunday along with BBU, G-Side and Stefan Ponce turned out to be a more than an appropriate way to end the weekend. Huge shout out to Pitchfork, Imflashy, YM!, Empty Bottle, all the industry folk who ran the decks friday night and to so many more!
Thursday June 2nd Beauty Bar Chicago celebrated one year in awesome. So naturally, a big ‘ole badass party was in order. We got to it, invited our friends along with all of our amazing partners in crime to come out and help us celebrate. What began as an ordinary Thursday evening quickly turned into quite the raucous party after MATTBOYWHITE and DJ RTC set the tone with Blaqstarr ending things on the right note. We can’t thank all the countless killer people within the Beauty Bar Chicago friends and family network who came out to celebrate the club’s achievement of baller-status. Head honcho Paul Devitt flew in for the night and sealed the night as an official banger. Beauty Bar’s general manager Brent Heyl was even spotted wearing a tie, a true class act captured by our friends at Mad Lab Photography. Last Friday Stic-of-the-Week and Beauty Bar brought MDNR by the club for a DJ Set. MNDR’s mounting buzz has been landing her some great press in some of our favorite magazines and websites. We just had to bring her out to Beauty Bar with our friends over at Stic-of-the-Week to party with her! Beauty Bar Chicago and RubyHornet teamed up on Saturday, November 20th to bring hip-hop, newcomer – CyHi Da Prynce – out for the latest installment of Digital Freshness. Let me tell you… catch this cat pronto before he’s selling out arenas. Sheer talent and charisma from Da Prynce brought the house down. He was relentless during his on-stage onslaught and the capacity-crowd matched his fervor all-night long. CyHi not only unleashed mixtape banger “Living Wonderful,” but also treated us to his guest verse on the Kanye West track “So Appalled”. Amazing!
